This charming box is a creation of Taisiya Danchenko from the village of Fedoskino. The work is called "Santa's Favourites", and depicts Santa Clause surrounded with kittens and puppies that he is going to present to good boys and girls. On the box's exterior bottom the artist has painted one more scene that depicts the presents that Santa Clause prepared for children. The scenes are painted in bright oils; in some areas the oils are mixed with gold powder to produce a magic effect.
The scene painted on the lid is framed with gold beads. Gold beads can be also found decorating the box's sides and its exterior bottom. The box is covered with black lacquer mixed with gold dust while the interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on four pearl beads. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title and the village of Fedoskino.
