This beautiful box has been painted by well-known Fedoskino artist, Victor Tretyakov. Romanticism of the bygone nineteenth century in Russia and nobleness of Russian aristocracy is Tretyakov's favorite theme to depict. Here the artist has painted the upper class lady and gentleman riding in the carriage through the summer park. The scene is brilliantly painted using green, light blue and brown tones oils.
The box is made out of high quality paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The scene is framed with a gold line; two gold parallel lines wrap around the box's sides. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name.
