Description:

This exquisite work is a creation of talented Fedoskino artist Alexander Maslov.
First of all, the box is double-sided! We can see the painting on both sides of this box! The shape of the box is also interesting! It reminds us an old-shaped purse!
The box shows the forest witch, Baba-Yaga speaking with one of her servants, a black bird. Since ancient times black color in Russia is associated with a phenomenon of the other world. Interesting, but baba Yaga has one flower in her hand!
On the opposite side of the box we can see an Old Beard Fellow, who just brought a basket full of fresh flowers and has look at one of them. He bring this flower closer to his face, to take a closer look.
The scene is brilliantly painted in Maslov's signature style and elaborately detailed with shining silver and gold powders. Some of the details like the ladybird crawling across the wall , a bug and the spider painted in the right bottom of the composition are crafted three-dimensionally. All three-dimensional details are painted over mother-of-pearl inlay. The box is made out of paper-mache, hinged, and rests on a flat bottom.
