Description:

Vladislav Maslov from Fedoskino has painted the scene depicted on this box. It is a fine specimen of an oil based painting, which adheres to the principle techniques and methods of the Fedoskino style. It is an artist's original composition as well, which was taken straight from the creative depths of his head, to paper, and then finally to this box.
The work is called "A Keeper of Keys" and shows a kind dwarf who is an owner of all keys in the fairy-tale world. The composition is filled with a great amount of minute details that help to create a magic atmosphere. The strange house painted in the background is loaded with a variety of extraordinary objects and it is very interesting to examine them.
The composition is painted in brown tones of oils. Various details are richly enhanced with brilliant gold paint. The dwarf's watch look three-dimensional being painted on the round-shaped piece of mother-of-pearl. The round-shaped pieces of mother-of-pearl can be also found in the left, upper part of the composition as an original decoration.
The box's exterior imitates stone color (multicolored veins and spots are scattered against the gold background). Tiny gold keys are painted on the box's sides. The box's sides are also decorated with peal beads glued on the sides of the box's legs.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened from the top of the scene, and the box rests on legs. On the lid's interior a square shaped piece of mother-of-pearl is glued; the title of the work, the artist's name and the year of 2009 is written on it.
