This attractive box has been painted by Mochalova Marie from the village of Fedoskino. Marie is a daughter of talented Fedoskino artists Nikolay Zotov and Moiseeva Elena, who is for this moment the chief Artist of Fedoskino Factory!
The box features a girl feeding the birds from a sunflower and the birds are sining their songs to her! The scene is painted in various shades of bright colors. Aluminum metal leaf shines through the background. The dress of a girl, her hair and stems of the grass are highlighted with gold paint.
The sides of the box are painted with a mixture of colors--gold, black, blue-the all mixed here!
Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed by the artist.
