The famous Fedoskino landscape painter, Vladimir Serdodetskov, painted these peaceful summer scenes on this purse-shaped box. Serdotetskov loves Russian nature and in each of his brilliant boxes he shows his admiration aroused by the views of Russian countryside.
The palette used by the artist is a reflection for the time of year depicted here. Green and brown tones make up the majority of the colors. Silver dust is sprinkled throughout the composition for added flair and pull for the eye.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The box's exterior bottom is covered with dark green lacquer while the interior is covered with red lacquer. The box has a hinge above the scenes and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
