This gorgeous box is one more superb creation from talented artist Alexey Otryaskin of Fedoskino.The box depicts the Storyteller, who is telling the stories to two kids-a boy and a girl.
Besides these main scenes the composition is filled with a great number of minor details : there are different characters from well-known Russian fairy tales! In the left side there is Ivan Tsarevich with tsarevna on the gray Wolf, downer- there is a princess Swan, at the bottom of the composition-Magic pike is coming from a river. In the right corner there is a Dragon, on the right side-Baba Yaga. Flying Ship is in the skies.The chest of Kashey the Deathless is on an Oak tree and some others.
The composition is painted in various shades of green and brown oils suitable for depiction an action that takes place in the forest.
The box's exterior is covered with dark emerald lacquer mixed with silver dust, while its interior is traditionally red. The box's sides are decorated with a nice gold pattern.
The box is made out of paper-mache. It has a hinge from the top of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the title "Meeting with a Storyteller".
