Description:

This box is a creation of Konstantin Danshin from the village of Fedoskino.
Konstantin was born in the city of Dmitrov, in 1968. His father is a professional musician, a member of the State Symphonic Orchestra of Yu. Svetlanov. Danshin's father managed to inculcate in his son a taste for art. At the age of fourteen, he enrolled Konstantin in an art school. In 1983, Konstantin entered the Fedoskino Art School, where he studied under the guidance of V.N. Frolov, N.G. Marchukov and V.D. Antonov. Now K. Danshin's works are exhibited in different museums in Russia and all over the world. Especially his works are popular in the USA, England and France!
Konstantin is fond of animals, especially cats. Quite often he depicts his cats on his miniatures, and this box isn't exception. We can see a cat painted at the pound dreaming of fishes!
The box's back side and the top of a lid are richly decorated with a complex ornamental scan pattern. Hair-thin silver, wavy threads (cut out of silver metal sheets) come out like rays from a single point. The silver threads reflect the sunlight and shine brightly; their wavy structure gives a three-dimensional effect of to a single pattern. The box's sides are covered with dark bronze paint mixed with silver powder and gave an effect of a bronze marble stone.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box sits flat. The work is signed by the artist.
