Description:

This stunning box is a creation of the Top Fedoskino artist Sergey Kovlov. Here the artist has managed to express a charming beauty of a nature in suburbs of town of Suzdal during the summer time.
On the front we can see a large owl flying over the grass and flower fields hunting for some food.On the back side-a stone wall of the town of Suzdal. Russian medieval architecture of white stoned cathedrals looks very natural among the fields. The scene is painted in light gray and grren tones of oils and this rather monotonous palette is enlivened by silver metal powder, mother-of-pearl inlay. In this work Kozlov has used several pieces of mother-of-pearl and as usual here he displayed his high level of professionalism!
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Creamy white lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The scene is framed with a gold band while the box's sides are imitates coloring of marble (dark tiny veins are scattered densely against the creamy lacquered surface). A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2011.
