Here we can see a pair of girls in a sledge stopped by ryazhennie(people that disguised in animals or different people). On a pan-cake week people are celebrating the end of Winter and before the fast there is a big pan-cake holiday during the whole week!.
The whole composition is richly decorated with three pieces of mother-of-pearl! Two pieces are "hidden" under the musical instruments of a bear (banjo) and violin of a goat, and the third very large one is "under" rich ladies clothes.
The sides of the box are richly decorated in a style which first time was used by the famous pair Shapkin-Kareva. The gold leaf is glued to the surface and then cut the gold out it the artist is making rich ornamentation!
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the box (bottom) is black, while red lacquer completes its interior. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a wavy platform. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino.
