We always proud to present the works of the prominent artist Nikolay Zotov. Leading Fedoskino artist, whose creations are displayed in each catalog of the Russian lacquer art, this artist has a peculiar style, and very often his boxes are originally shaped, that is why it is always easy to recognize his unique creations!
This interesting installation has also a unique shape! The theme of this box is the story of Emelya or By the Pike's will.
On this installation the artist depicts several scenes of the tale:
On the front side- Emely is catching the pike in a river by a bucket.
On the right side- Emely is driving the sledge without horses, only using magical words:
By the pikes will, by my desire...
On the back side and inside the box--there are beautiful winter landscape scenes, on the left side- lady with two buckets with a shoulder-yoke.
Like in most of his works, here the artist has created a multi-layered composition to get a three-dimensional effect. Zotov also has put several pieces of mother-of-pearl on the front lid.
The installation is constructed from paper-mache and epoxy rosin, painted by oils. The work is signed with the artist's name.
The lid is hinged.
