Description:

This large and attractive box is a copy of portrait of Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna and her daughter Maria painted by a well-known Russian artist Karl Bryullov in 1830. During her trip in Italy Grand Duchess has ordered to Karl her portrait.
The original oil-in-canvas is held in Russian State Museum (St.Petersburg) and considered to be a very good sample of Russian classicism style.
The box is painted by a talented Fedoskino artist Bazlova Irina,very much detailed and has very good contrast colors.
The painting is bordered with a thick gold line, the sides of the box are decorated with rich floral ornament painted also in gold.
The box is made of paper-mache, the hinge is located to the left of the composition. The box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist name, date and Fedoskino.
