This peaceful winter landscape has been painted by Alexander Kozlov, son of the famous Fedoskino Master Sergey Kozlov.
It is shows a dull winter day. Silver skies are running above a narrow village street. To the left we can see a part of a wall of wooden house. A man walks to a Church. The depicted scene reflects a special charm and beauty of the Russian countryside!
Light gray tones of oils help the artist to reproduce an atmosphere of winter. Silver paint highlights the fence and the road. A piece of mother-of-pearl shines through the walls of the Church.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The scene is framed with two gold lines, painted on the gray color. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom.
