Alexander Mikheev of Fedoskino is one of the most talented artists in the village. His work runs the fine line of surrealism and classic realism. His extensive knowledge of the art of painting and how to use his materials puts him above many of his peers. The international community has taken notice by placing them in private collections throughout Europe and United States.
The work is called "St.Petersburg", and shows the old part of the city as a large ship with the sails. And the sails are full, the city is not stoned, it is moving!!!
The painting is done over several pieces of mother-of-pearl, which are glows through all the cathedrals on a boat!
The scene is framed with a gold line. The edges of the lid are decorated with original ornamentation painted in lustrous silver paint, coming to this border line. Similar ornament and another gold line wraps around the sides of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior and the interior of the piece. On the bottom's interior of the box we can find a small "pillow" made of dark blue velvety material. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed, dated (2013) and titled by the artist at the bottom of the composition in white oils.
