This large five-sided casket has been painted by the talented Fedoskino artist, Rogatov Dmitriy. The work is called "Pirates" and shows the scenes from pirates life. Each side has a charcheter or scene. On the top we can see a small boat coming to a big ship, which stay on anchors near the island or shore. Then three sides are showing typical pirates, all weaponed. And on the back side of this casket we can see a big sinking ship-possible result of a meeting with the pirates.
The edges of the base are adorned with two paralle gold lines.
The casket is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name.
