This box painted by the talented Mstera artist Inna Tikhomirova is called “Rendezvous”. Each of the box's sides including the lid features a romantic scene. On the lid a noble man rides in the carriage hastening to the ball to have a date with his lady-love; while on the sides we can see a lady leaning against the tree in the park, and intending to read a love letter (the front side); the rendezvous of a gentleman and a lady in the park (the right side); a lady riding her steed towards the secluded nook of the park where her suitor is waiting for her (the left side); a lady who enjoys riding the swing and the gentleman who entertains her (the rear side).
The work is painted in Tikhomirova's unique style, using a palette filled with various shades of blue. Each scene is outlined with gold, and framed with nice gold designs.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the piece. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Mstera and the title.
