Description:

Konstantin Bakhilin is the artist who painted a scene from Pushkin's tale of "The Fisherman and the Magic Fish" on this box. Here we can see the fisherman who complains to the Magic Fish that his wife doesn't want to live in a peasant hut but she wants to live in a palace.
The palette is filled with cold blue tones because the scene is taking place on the seashore. Silver and gold paint is used to draw the fish and the palace that it holds. Silver and gold paint is also used to detail the net.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box's exterior is decorated with intricate gold and silver patterns. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on three legs. The work is signed with Mstera, the title, the year of 2006 and the artist's name on the box's exterior bottom.
