This oval Mstera box has been drawn by Olga Presnyakova. The work is called “The Forest Fairy”, and shows a girl caressing a deer on the forest glade. The composition is filled with a great number of minor details including various animals, birds, plants, trees, and architecture. Delicate strokes of gold paint is used in details throughout the composition, as is traditional in Mstera art.
The scene is outlined with gold. The edges of the lid and the box's sides are adorned with intricate gold patterns. On the box's lid these patterns are accented with blue tempera paint.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with Mstera, the title, and the artist's name.
