Description:

Mikhail Strunin of Mstera is the talented master responsible for the delightful box before you. It is another piece from his series of works dedicated to Old Moscow. Working on it, Strunin has used the old painting drawn in the 1820s entitled “Moscow. The Red Square”. Looking at this scene, the viewer can imagine how ancient Moscow looked like.
In this work Strunin has used his favorite palette filled with a noble mixture of pale brown, grey and green tones. The scene is detail with brilliant gold paint.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the piece. Gold floral ornamentation frames the scene on the lid. Another floral design, but a little bigger in size, wraps around the sides of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Mstera and the title (“Moscow. The Red Square, the 1820s”).
