This box is an original work of the popular Mstera artist, Nikolay Molodkin. He is the youngest in the family of renowned Mstera artists. Like his father, Vladimir Molodkin, and his brothers, Daniil and Denis, he creates unique, museum-quality boxes.
Called “The Door into Summer”, this box is painted on a fantastic subject. In the center of the composition the artist has painted the magic door that helps characters to transport into a desirable season. The beautiful lady has opened the door, and invites the lad to penetrate into a hot summer season and offers him to leave a cold, dull winter.
The palette is filled with Nikolay Molodkin's favorite light blue, green and brown tones. Each minute detail is enhanced with brilliant gold paint and shines brightly. This is a very complete work that is an instant treasure for any collection.
The scene is framed with tiny gold beads. The edges of the lid are adorned with intricate gold leafy patterns. Luxuriant gold leafy patterns can be also found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the work while red lacquer completes the interior of the box.The lid is hinged, and the box rests upon four rounded legs. The work is signed, titled and dated (2009) by the artist in gold paint on the lid's interior.
