Description:

This beautiful view of old Moscow is painted by Olga Strunina(daughter of Top 10 Mstera Artist Leo Fomichov) from the village of Mstera. In the foreground we can see a hussar chatting with an elegant lady while in the background the artist has painted the Belfry of Ivan the Great built by Italian architect Bono Friazin in 1505-1508. The belfry served as a watch and signal tower of the Kremlin. One could see an expanse of some 25 to 30 kilometers from top, and a beautiful view of Moscow opened from it.
The scene is nicely drawn in calm, subdued tones of tempera paints. Gold paint is used to decorate the lady's dress and also to paint bells and cupolas of the cathedrals. Gold is also used to decorate the box's exterior with intricate patterns.
The box is constructed out of high-quality paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box and red lacquer is used to paint the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Mstera, the title (
