Description:

This gorgeous box was painted by Viktor Kuznetsov from the village of Mstera. It shows several scenes from the fairy-tale "The Sleeping Princess and seven bogatyrs". In the middle of the composition we can see the wicked Queen looking at the glass and asking: "Who is the most beautiful woman in the kingdom?" In the right upper corner there is the young Princess who surpassed the wicked Queen in beauty. In the left bottom corner the Queen's servant is going to kill the Princes leaving her alone in the depths of the forest. In the upper right part of the composition the artist depicts seven bogatyrs who sheltered the Princess and became her sworn brothers. In left bottom corner Prince Yelisey asks the Sun and the Wind where he can find his beloved Princess. He doesn't know that she is destined to sleep forever, and only a kiss can save her. In the left bottom corner the artist depicts the awoken Princess and Prince Yelisey. In the right and left corners the artist depicts the mythological birds
