Description:

This exceptional production was created by Mstera favorite Daniil Molodkin. His works are always notable for fantastic representation of different subjects and bright, multicolored coloring. Having painted this unusual scene, Daniil continues his series of works showing fantastic creatures who live in grass world. These creatures, blue gnomes and dwarfs, have towns, villages, markets, shops, ports and libraries. They go to the cinema and restaurants, behaving just like people do. For instance, the gnome depicted here hunts for mosquitoes. This theme is a favorite with all types of collectors. The success of this series by the artist can be attributed to his want to make something fresh and not something that has already been made before. While many artists are reproducing older works, others like Daniil are paving the way for other artists, and creating works that will be reproduced in the future.
The scene is painted in bright, bold tones. Green, blue and yellow tones dominate here. Gold paint details the plants and the gnome's costume. The mosquitoes are painted in a very original way and can attract the viewer's attention at first sigh. The landscape and the gnome's costume are splendidly detailed.
The composition is framed by a line of gold paint, whereas the box's sides are decorated with Molodkin's typical gold and aluminum filigree.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the composition, and the box sits on a flat bottom. The artist signature, the village of Mstera and title ("Hunting for Mosquitoes") can be found right underneath of composition. This is a festive and light-hearted piece by a young and talented artist!
