This unique and fascinating composition is from the mind and workbench of Daniil Molodkin from Mstera. His works are always notable for fantastic representation of different subjects and bright, multicolored coloring. Having painted this unusual scene, Daniil continues his series of works showing fantastic creatures - little blue men who live in grass world act absolutely like people do.
This scene shows a gnome feeding a cat with chicken-meat. He has also successfully caught the fish flying past them in the air. May be this fish is caught for the cat or the gnome may put it in his bag like the fish depicted in the foreground to carry it home. All around them extends the fantastic world with its bright whimsical plants, different insects and the bright yellow sky.
The scene is bright and colorful. Blue, yellow, brown, and green tones dominate here. Gold paint is used with great care and precision to detail the composition.
The lid's composition and the all four sides of the box are decorated with flawless gold and aluminum filigree. The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top, and the box rests on four feet. The artist's signature, the village of Mstera, the year of 2005 and the title ("Imperturbable Cat Markiz") can be found right underneath of composition painted in gold.
