Description:

The Grassworld theme, created by Mstera master Daniil Molodkin, is as creatively infinite as it is aesthetically appealing. Almost every Molodkin's box features gnomes of different professions: gnomes-scientists, gnomes-hunters, gnomes-fishermen, gnomes-travelers, gnomes-musicians, gnomes-mechanics, etc. This theme is one of the most popular in the lacquer art world.
Here we can see the representative of unusual profession. He is the gnome- ufologist. He has focused his telescope on the space ship with the green skinned alien sitting inside. The gnome- ufologist and the alien examine each other.
To paint this work the artist has used the usual for his works pallet filled with greens, blues and reds used for reproduction of the landscape; and yellows used for depiction of the sky. Gold paints are used to detail the gnome's costume, the plants and the insects.
The edges of the lid are decorated with beautiful gold floral ornamentation. The similar ornamentation only accented with aluminum and a little bigger in size wraps around the box's sides The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box isn't hinged and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title ("Ufologist"), and the village of Mstera.
