This intriguing composition was composed by the talented Viktor Kuznetsov of Mstera. Well orchestrated colors develop the surrealistic imagery within. A potent palette of powerful radiance. A dream -like combination of passionate design and finely executed animation. Theme is unique and interesting. Here the artist creates the allegorical depiction of the Morning. He paints him as young handsome lad dressed in the robe made out of wheat ears and wild flowers. His body emanates bright golden light, and with each his step the darkness of a night disappears. The new day is beginning, and the peasants start to fulfill their daily routine. They pasture cattle, feed domestic animals and birds, mow off wheat, nurse little children and gather hay.
The palette is based in rich greens, oranges and browns. Gold paint is used abundantly to add detail and outline certain features in the scene. The best example of the usage of gold is the creation of animals' hair. Vividly creative.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while dark red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The edges of the lid and the box's sides are decorated with rich gold ornamentation. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four feet. The artist wrote his name, the title ("Morning"), the year of 2004 and the village name of Mstera at the bottom of the composition using gold metal paint.
