Description:

This enchanting piece of authentic Russian artistry was created by famous Mstera master Vladimir Molodkin. His elaborate style is well established in the lacquer community. Molodkin's works are exhibited at the All-Russia Museum of Decorative and Folk Arts in Moscow. He does much more than simply paint quality compositions. Molodkin's pieces transport us into a world of enhanced imagination. Mood altering artistry.
The work is called "Winter Fairy-tale", and features the artist's fantasy on this theme. The peasants and fantastic creatures sit inside the sledges pulled by multicolored horses. They rush along the path that leads high in the sky following the huge green firebird. The rest part of the composition includes the beautiful winter landscape, and the allegorical depiction of Spring painted at the top of the composition. Every aspect of the painting is precisely detailed and no area within the composition is left bare.
The palette is filled with electric blues that Vladimir Molodkin loves to use. Gold and aluminum paints are used to enhance the details and bring out the true boldness of the palette.
The artist frames the lid's art work with a beautiful pattern of gold and silver leafed filigree. The identical quality design is used to decorate the sides of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left side of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title and the village of Mstera in aluminum paints on the lid's interior.
