Ludmila Lyubomudrova created this attractive Mstera box.
She is a daughter of a very well-known artist Boris Lubomudrov who past us several years ago. If you will check any older books of Mstera Lacquer Boxes and will find any of his works, you can tell that his recognizable style and skill went from generation to generation to his daughter Ludmila! The box shows a scene from the popular story of, "The Sleeping Princess", originally put to pen by French writer Charles Perrault. The story is about the beautiful princess who is enchanted by a neglected fairy to sleep for three hundred years. The wish of wicked fairy is very cruel. Not only the Princess but also all people of her kingdom are put to sleep. The evil spell can be destroyed by the handsome prince who is destined to awake the princess by his sweet kiss.
The scene is mostly painted in green and brown tempera paints. Gold and silver metal paints have been used to decorate the box's exterior with intricate and very attractive ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. Signed with the title, Mstera, the year of 2001 and the artist's name.
The innovation design of the box is in the box's front side that is hinged like the lid and can be opened!
