Description:

This enchanting piece of authentic Russian artistry was created by famous Mstera master Vladimir Molodkin. His elaborate style is well established in the lacquer community. Molodkin's works are exhibited at the All-Russia Museum of Decorative and Folk Arts in Moscow. He does much more than simply paints quality compositions. Molodkin's pieces transport us into a world of enhanced imagination. Mood altering artistry.
The box shows a wedding ceremony in a Russian village. The palette is consistent with the soft tones that Vladimir Molodkin loves to use. Cool blues and warm yellows dominate here. Gold is used throughout the scene for added flair and to outline key areas in the composition.
The box's black lacquered exterior is decorated with intricate gold leafy patterns. On the box's front side Molodkin has painted the rug made out of multicolored rags using tempera and gold paints. In the middle of this rug he has written the following phrase: "The wedding was so grandiose that the whole village celebrated it!"
The box is made of high-quality paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four rounded legs. The work is signed, and titled ("Wedding") by the artist.
