Description:

Denis Molodkin of Mstera is the author of this originally designed composition. Mstera is proud of Denis Molodkin. He is taking the Mstera style to new and exciting levels. His father and brothers are also wonderful painters that all of Mstera is looking to for inspiration and new ways to use Mstera's dynamic style.
This humorous work is called “Mushrooms”, and shows an unlucky mushroomer who has lost his way in the dense forest. After strolling through the dark forest for a long period of time, he starts to feel fear. With each step he makes his fear becomes stronger and stronger. It seems to him that horrible monsters, wild beasts and dreadful forest spirits surround him. He seems to hear their bloodcurdling yells. Seized by fear he falls on the ground together with his basket filled with mushrooms. Looking at this scene we can remember a wise saying: “Fear takes molehills for mountains”.
The dark forest and its creepy inhabitants are painted in dark tones of tempera paints to accentuate emotions of the mushroomer and to show how terrified he is, while a middle part of the composition where a town is depicted, is drawn in light tones of tempera paints to show that it is a safe place for the mushroomer. Various details are enhanced with a shining gold paint.
The composition is framed with an original gold pattern composed of different dots, scrolls, tiny stars and circles. The similar gold pattern but larger in size and enriched with leafy ornaments can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Mstera, the title and the year of 2008.
