This charming globe shaped piece was created by Mstera artist Yuriy Alexandrovich Zhigalov. Zhigalov studied under E.N Zonina and N.D Dmitriev. He is a specialist in floral compositions using the tempera art technique in his art work. Zhigalov's miniatures differ from others because of their thin gold scroll work and by the fine technique of execution. The artist believes that his compassionate style is easy to remember due to its detailed painting, themes, colors, paints, and overall quality of his compositions.
On the box's lid the artist has painted a bush of currants covered with bright, mellow berries. The scene is drawn against the olive background, and thoroughly detailed with shining gold paint. Gold is also used to decorate the base of the box with intricate ornaments.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with Mstera, the title ("Beautiful Time"), and the artist's name on the box's exterior bottom.
