Description:

Vladimir Molodkin of Mstera painted this wonderfully creative scene. It shows happy peasants who welcome the beginning of Spring. The Spring is depicted here as a beautiful maiden who approaches the village on board of a boat that flies in the sky pulled by white swans.
The palette consists of a myriad of cold tones that work well in conveying the wintry setting. The style is one unique to Vladimir Molodkin, and one familiar with his works can easily see his stylistic decisions. Those not familiar with his works can see right away the complexity in theme, composition, and context from which he draws his creative energy. The brushwork is exquisite, which is enhanced by the hairline gold detailing he adds. This piece shows that artistic, and technical exploitation, when in perfect harmony can yield tremendous results.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. Gold ornamentation on the lid and around the sides of the box is the perfect accompaniment to the composition. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four rounded feet. The work is signed with the artist's name, Mstera, and the title "Spring".
