Description:

Daniil Molodkin of Mstera not only has great artistic skills, but has an imagination teeming with fantasy filled thoughts. His work has found itself in the hands of many international collectors and his popularity is growing fast. He does not limit himself to painting themes from Russian tales, rather he makes up his own scenes from tales that exist in his head.
The work is called “The Flower Prince” and shows the elf-prince riding in the carriage pulled by the blue dragon. The wings of the dragon resemble the wings of a dragonfly. As usual the composition is filled with dozens of various plants and insects.
To paint this work the artist has used his favorite palette filled with greens, blues and reds. Gold paint is used to detail the prince's costume, his carriage, some insects and the collar on the dragon's neck.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The scene is outlined with gold. A gold foliage pattern frames the composition, and this same pattern decorates the sides of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title, Mstera and the year of 2009.
