Description:

This pretty large box has been painted by a talented artist and teacher of Mstera's Art School Nikolay Molodkin. His father is the famous Mstera Master Vladimir Molodkin, his brothers- Denis and Daniil, are the leading artists of the village Mstera as well.
This box is showing a scene from a Tale of a Hump-backed pony.
In the beginning of the story, when one of three sons- Ivan caught the magic mare that trampled down wheat on his father's field. This mare promised Ivan to present three foals in exchange for freedom. Later two of these foals turned into the steeds with golden manes while the third one turned into the Humpbacked Little Pony. The old greedy Tsar obliged Ivan to fulfill different tasks, and the Humpbacked Little Pony always helped him. And in the end of a story instead of the tsar Ivan dipped himself in three cauldrons of boiling water, boiling milk and ice cold water, and transformed into a very handsome young man and the Tsar only boiled in the first one...
The color palette is based on harmonious combinations of brown, blue and yellow tones. Gold paint is used with great care and precision in the compositions. The application of the gold is very well done, and only enhances the flair of the box without overpowering the eye!
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged to the top of the composition.
The box rests on four legs. The work is signed, dated (2015) and titled by the author at the bottom of the composition.
