Description:

This large and very detailed work is painted by one of the talented Molodkin brothers, Denis Molodkin. He is the oldest among the sons of the Molodkin's family. Their father, Vladimir Molodkin, has raised his boys to be great artists!
The box shows a moment from Pushkin's Tale of Tsar Saltan. Prince Gvidon and his wife the Princess Swan meet the ship on the board of which Tsar Saltan is sailing. Canons fire to welcome the foreign guests, and even uncle old Chernomor and his thirty-three knights have risen from the sea to greet Tsar Saltan. Tsar Saltan heard much about the mysterious and rich island ruled by Prince Gvidon but he doesn't know that powerful Prince Gvidon is his son.
On the left part on the background of the composition we can see a picturesque of a very nice town. The town is painted very precise and very detailed.
The composition is painted in Denis Molodkin's favorite palette filled with soft red, browns and yellows.
The scene is outlined with gold line. Intricate gold foliage ornamentation decorate the edges of the lid. Very complex and colorful flower ornament wraps around the box's sides. Impressive!
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the work while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition. The box rests upon four legs. The work is signed, titled and dated (2015) inside a beautiful design painted in tempera paints on the lid's interior.
