Description:

This box painted by Viktor Kotkov shows a scene from Pushkin's tale of a hump-backed horse, when two gridy brothers decided to steal two stallions from their younger brother and sell them.
The scene is painted in the traditional Mstera style. The lid is decorated with intricate floral and leafy patterns painted with tempera paints. The box's sides are decorated with a nice gold leafy pattern.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Mstera and the title.
