This small box was painted by Bolshakova V. from the village of Palekh. It shows the marriage ceremony of a loving couple. They are dressed in bright festive costumes, and the white bridal veil covers the girl's head. The lad puts a wedding ring on the finger of his future wife. Their figures are surrounded with beautiful pink roses, and two birds over them hold a ribbon on which the following inscription is written in English: "May this marriage be blessed!".
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid isn't hinged and the box rests on a flat bottom. On the bottom of the box the artist paints in gold the village of Palekh, her name and the date (2004).
