This original apple shaped box has been created by Alexey Lapshin from the village of Palekh. In the middle of it he depicts the funny worm eating the apple. The drawing is skillfully painted in gold and aluminum paints over the black lacquer.
The scene is framed with gold and aluminum beads. On the upper part of the box that imitates the leaf two twigs of the apple tree are painted in gold paints.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the piece. The box is hinged from the top and rests on a flat bottom. It is signed with the artist's name, the village of Palekh, and the year of 2004.
