Description:

This beautiful bright work was created by the young talented artist Anastasia Denisenko from the village of Palekh. She is a daughter of the famous Palekh artist Marina Denisenko. Anastasia has a bright future and as of now she is a diamond in the rough as a lacquer miniaturist.
Here the artist has chosen to depict a scene from Hans Christian Andersen's popular fairy tale "The Snow Queen". This tale tells about adventures of a little, but very brave girl Gerda. Her friend Kay has been kidnapped by the Snow Queen and she sets out in search of him. The scene shows Kay and Gerda sitting in their garden situated on the roof of their house.
The scene is painted in bright red, green and blue tones against the beautiful gold metal background. Gold paint is also used to add details throughout the scene. For additional decoration the background is covered with lustrous multicolored spangles.
The sides of the box are decorated with elegant gold and aluminum patterns.
The box is constructed from quality paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition, and the box rests flat. The box is signed with the artist's name and the village of Palekh.
