This splendid Easter egg is a creation of the talented Natasha Kornilova from the village of Palekh. It features two scenes based on the biblical subjects. One of them shows the holy family: the Virgin Mary with her child; another one shows Jesus Christ blessing the maiden. The scenes are framed with the braid-like patterns. The exterior of the egg and the pedestal on which it rests are covered with lustrous gold metal paint, and decorated with vines painted in green and brown tempera paints. Vines have been painted purposely here as they have a definite religious meaning. Vine symbolizes the figure of Jesus Christ, while its branches and grapes symbolize the pupils of Jesus Christ.
The Egg is made out of wood. The work is signed by Kornilova.
