Lekomtsev Boris from the village of Palekh is a creator of this interesting work. It features a man traveling by a very strange aircraft that looks like a balloon but flies by means of the sails. The scene is painted in bright tempera paints against the black background traditional for Palekh School of lacquer miniature painting. Bright gold paints add details to the scene, and beautifully enliven it.
The box's sides are decorated with elegant gold and aluminum floral patterns.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed by the artist.
