This round box is a creation of Zhenya Shatokhina from the village of Palekh.
The box shows us a scene where Mom keeps on her laps a child.On the other hand Mom has a thread with a small bow which very exites a cat.
The scene is painted in green, brown and red tempera paints. There are nice details throughout, from the fine gold in the Mom's costume and on a table cloth.
Gold, but simple ornament bordores the lid while the box's sides are decorated with an elegant gold and aluminum leafy pattern.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on three small round legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh and the year of 2006.
