Sergey Gurilyev, and his wife Maria, painted this box in a dual effort, which resulted in the creation of exquisite work. The two have been painting together since they met and their finely polished artistic techniques are very well known within the world of lacquer miniatures.
The box shows three maidens walking through the paradise garden. A diverse palette is used here, employing very bright paints in a wide array of tones, to create the painting. The detailing in the scene is amazing. Almost the entire scene has aluminum and gold detail work, but it is done in such a manner that does not overpower the scene.
Complementing the metallic work in the composition, the artists decorate the box's exterior with intricate gold leafy patterns accompanied with tiny aluminum flowers.
