Denisenko depicts the profound enchantment of "Swan Lake", the ballet brought to life by acclaimed composer P.I Tchaikovsky. Gorgeous shades of green, in every tone imaginable, bring the well detailed landscape to life. The golden and aluminum glow within the scene is trademark Denisenko. The work with the various forms of plant life is particularly noteworthy. There is almost a third dimension created because of the contours in the leaves. Hand painted perfection it is. All of the character's clothes have been decorated in this way as well.
The box is constructed from paper-mache made. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The box's sides are adorned with golden roses. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Palekh.
