This oval Palekh box has been created by Ivan Vikhrev. It is painted on the theme of maternity, and depicts a mother who looks through the window and shows her baby a bird that flies outside their cozy house. The bench the mother and her baby sit on is drawn in bright gold paint. Various details throughout the scene are enhanced with gold and silver paint.
The scene is framed with gold beads. The box's sides are decorated with a gold leafy pattern that blooms with silver flowers.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2007 and the village of Palekh. Both the box's exterior and interior are covered with red lacquer. The lid isn't hinged and the box rests on two legs.
