This semispherical box is a creation of Gelisheva Ludmila from the village of Palekh. It shows happy children enjoying a nice winter day. They skate, sledge and play the snowballs with a great pleasure.
Different shades of blue tempera paints suitable for depiction a winter scene predominate here. Various details are nicely enhanced with lustrous gold and silver paint. Gold paint is also used to decorate the box's exterior with attractive gold ornaments.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2010 and the village of Palekh.
