Description:

This box has been painted by a well-established Palekh artist Vladimir Vlezko.
His mastery is at an all time high! Vladimir is used to be a teacher in Palekh Art School!
The depicted scene is a work of great skill and technical prowess. The box depicts a scene from the story of "The Sleeping Princess and the Seven Bogatyrs" written in verse by Alexander Pushkin. Here we can see Prince Yelisey going to find the Princess, find her and save her with his kiss.
The scene is brilliantly painted in Vlezko's signature style. The palette is rich and beautiful. Gold and silver paints are used to fill the composition with abundance of minute details and a magic luster. Gold is also used to decorate the box's exterior with beautiful and richly look complicated patterns. On the box's sides these patterns are accented with aluminum.
The box is made out of paper-mache made. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge above the composition and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2011 and the village of Palekh.
