This celebratory box was created Lukina Natalie from the village of Palekh
The theme of the work is a wedding ceremony in the Russian village. As customary with the Russian wedding day, all girls and women of the village make flower wreaths for the newlyweds.The tree horses carriage is also decorated with flowers! Here we can see husband and wife coming back from church, and all of the villagers are screaming and yelling congratulating them.
The scene is painted in bright tempera paints. All of the details have been contoured with bright gold paint.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer competes the interior of the work. The exterior is decorated with intricate gold ornaments. A hinge has been fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Palekh.
