Description:

This beautiful piece of genuine Russian artistry was composed by the creative V. Andriashkina from the village of Palekh. She has crafted elegance within fantasy, a surreal portrait of a well-known character of Cinderella. The characters have been dipped into gallons of personality. The setting is alive and full of flare. Add in the decorative elements of the piece and you have one very eclectic assembly of elegance and intricacy.
The sentimental tale of, "Cinderella", or "Zolushka" (it is the Russian version of the tale) tells about the poor and hard working girl who is rewarded in the end of the story for her kind heart and love to labor. The handsome Princes proposes marriage to her, and she becomes the Princess. Here the artist has depicted the moment of the story when the Prince offers Zolushka to try on the crystal shoe in the hope of finding out who was that beautiful lady who danced with him the whole nightlong. No doubt, it was Cinderella dressed in the rich elegant dress, and the happy end of the story approaches.
The composition is an utter delight. Each of six human figures has an individual look, and it is evident that the artist spent much time and focused painstaking efforts on working out each gesture, each trait of the face, and each minute detail of the costume. The luxurious interior of the palace chamber is reproduced splendidly with a lot of details such as the elegant chandelier, the floor covered with tile, or the opened door that adds depth to the composition.
The scene is painted in bright green, red, orange and blue paints against the gold background of the gorgeous wall ornamented with intricate patterns. Gold paint is also used to add various details to the scene.
The scene is decorated with a gold line, and each corner of the lid is adorned with a tiny gold flower. More complex ornamentation decorates the box's sides.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers its exterior and red lacquer covers its interior. The box has a hinge from the left of the composition and rests on a flat bottom. The artist wrote her name, the village name of Palekh, and the year of 2005 in gold paints at the bottom of the scene.
