Natalya Kurkina was born on the 3rd of August, 1974 in the village of Palekh. She comes from the hereditary artist family; she is a daughter of Alexander Shemarov and Lyubov Shemarova. During 1989-1994 she studied in the Palekh Art School. Her teachers were N. Gribov and A. Peskov. Natalya paints her boxes on the themes of folklore and literature. Her major works are “The King of the Forest” (2002), “Kalinov Bridge” (1999), “The Sleeping Beauty” (2004), “Cinderella” (2004), “Bride” (2006), “Swineherd” (2006), “Flowers” (2006), “Spring” (2006), “Snow-White and Rose-Red” (2007).
